Weather Sensors for Tennessee? Maybe

Lucky Knott

In an effort to enhance early warning systems and improve emergency response, Tennessee is considering installing weather sensors in every county. With over 60,000 miles of rivers, creeks, and streams prone to rapid rises, the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) sees the importance of gathering more data to potentially save lives.

The ambitious $4 million initiative aims to deploy weather stations across the state, equipped to monitor various meteorological parameters such as solar radiation, wind speeds, and leaf wetness.

If Governor Bill Lee approves the funding, the Tennessee legislature must approve.
