Wanted Man from Franklin County Escapes Pursuit in Other Area Counties


The Tennessee Highway Patrol is with local area law enforcement agencies in Lincoln and Bedford Counties to locate a suspect who fled following a police pursuit that began in Bedford County.

According to officials from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, the chase was initiated by Shelbyville Police, who were attempting to apprehend a suspect with felony warrants. The pursuit escalated as the suspect entered Lincoln County, where he managed to evade capture.

Authorities from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office were alerted to the ongoing pursuit and were informed that the suspect was believed to be armed. They later received a false report suggesting that the suspect had entered a residence in Franklin County, prompting a heightened response.

The suspect has been identified as Matthew Paul Barnes, who currently has eight outstanding warrants in Franklin County, Tennessee. The search for Barnes continues as law enforcement agencies work together to ensure public safety and apprehend the suspect.
