Tullahoma Schools Receive Grant Funding

Tullahoma City Schools received $15,000 in grant funds from the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) in partnership with Tullahoma Utilities Authority (TUA) for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) focused grants.

East Middle School teacher Rachel Cunningham received $5,000 from the grant. EMS will use these funds to purchase screens, Raspberry Pi, and other materials that allow students to code, design and display informational content and announcements on these screens.

Jack T. Farrar Elementary teacher Corynn Moyers was awarded $5,000. Ms. Moyers has purchased Bee-Bots and mats for her students. Third-grade students will use the Bee-Bots for various lessons, including counting, sequencing, directionality and problem-solving.

West Middle
West Middle

West Middle School STEM teacher Deb Gray received $3,500 from the grant. She used her funds to purchase Sphero Bolt Plus robots that her students code to move, communicate and more.

Robert E. Lee Elementary teacher Chelsea Chellstorp was awarded $1,500. She used her funds to purchase STEM career bins for her kindergarteners, which students use to be introduced to and explore a variety of careers. 

“The commitment that Tennessee Valley Authority and Tullahoma Utilities Authority have shown toward aiding our students and teachers is amazing,” said TCS Director of Schools, Dr. Catherine Stephens. “We are incredibly thankful for this partnership. I have been to our schools and seen firsthand how these funds were spent, and it is absolutely incredible as we continue to provide meaningful and unique learning opportunities for students.”
