
On Friday, March 7, the Franklin County Rebelettes faced a challenging matchup against Sequatchie County, ultimately falling 14-6.
Sequatchie County took an early lead in the first inning, capitalizing on a Franklin County error to put their first run on the board. Their momentum continued into the second inning, where RBI triples from players #1 and #5 drove in four more runs. In the third inning, Madison extended the lead with a home run to left field, bringing in two additional runs.
A strong sixth inning for Sequatchie County saw five runs on four hits. Kaylee Morris forced Madison into a fielder’s choice, resulting in one run. Player #1’s single drove in two more runs, Madison scored after tagging up, and #5 singled to bring in another.
On the mound, Morris pitched four innings in relief for Franklin County, surrendering eight hits and six runs—five of them earned—while striking out one and walking one. Dalayna Marshall started the game for Franklin County, allowing nine hits and eight runs (seven earned) over three innings, with two strikeouts and two walks. Lyla started for Sequatchie County, pitching seven innings while giving up six hits and six runs, striking out five, and walking five.
At the plate, Morris led Franklin County’s offense, going 3-for-4. Kaitlyn Montgomery contributed with two walks, and the team displayed patience overall, drawing five walks throughout the game.
Sequatchie County’s offense was formidable, accumulating 17 hits. Players #1 and #5 each collected three hits, with #1 leading the team in RBIs with four. The leadoff hitter went 3-for-5 on the day, while Madison, Lexie, Lyla, and Jalyn also recorded multiple hits. Player #5 stole two bases, and the team combined for eight stolen bases overall.
With the loss, The Rebelettes are 1-1 on the season.
Franklin County Rebelettes will look to bounce back in their next game as they host the Giles County Lady Cats on Monday to begin District Play.
