Ralph Edwards, age 89 of Cowan, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Elk River Health and Rehab in Winchester. Ralph was born on April 5, 1935, in the Beans Creek Community of Franklin County, to the late Ollie and Gertrude (Robinson) Edwards. He retired after many years of service with Shaw Industries, where he was a forklift driver. Ralph was a member of Our Fathers House in Cowan and attended when he was able. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing, riding around in the cove, listening to music, and dancing. Ralph spent many hours working in his vegetable garden, and sharing his harvest with family and friends in the Cowan community. Ralph treasured the time spent with loved ones, and telling tall tales to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be remembered as a selfless person, who would give the shirt off his back. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughters-in-law, Julie Edwards, Bonnie Edwards, and Sandra Edwards; and siblings, Nina Hill, Dorothy Berryhill, Thomas Edwards, Carlie Edwards, Mildred Hazelwood and Velma Shockley. Ralph is survived by his wife, Jane (Partin) Edwards; children, Danny R. Edwards, Mary (Tommy) Evans, Melody (Kenneth) Holt, Calvin Edwards, Susan (Justin) Sims and Trish (Chad) Mantooth; nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister, Retha Curtis; and special brothers, David (Brenda) Edwards and Gary (Stacey) Edwards; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2025, from 5:00pm – 8:00pm at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025, at 2:00pm from the chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Bro. Lester Ashley officiating. Interment will follow in Cowan Montgomery Cemetery with Derrick Edwards, Craig Holt, Chase Mantooth, Hunter Mantooth, Jeffrey McCormick, Dawson Edwards, and Cayden Powers all serving as pallbearers.
