The Grundy County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public about an ongoing scam in which individuals falsely claim to be law enforcement officers. These scammers contact residents, stating they have an active warrant and must pay a specified amount. These scam calls may appear to come from the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office or 931-692-3466.
In some cases, individuals have been asked to meet in person.
Please be advised that law enforcement will never call to demand payment or request that you turn yourself in under these circumstances. If you receive such a call, do not provide any personal information or payment. In the majority of these cases, it is difficult to find the source and prosecute. If you have already made plans to meet with individuals who have made these false statements, please get in touch with law enforcement as soon as possible. Do not meet with these individuals.
