On Thursday morning, officials announced that the Nashville Sports Council, the Ohio Valley Conference, Vanderbilt University, and the city of Nashville have been awarded the NCAA Division I Football Championship games in 2026 and 2027.
The Nashville Sports Council confirmed that Nashville will become the 11th city to host the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Championship since its inception in 1978. The championship games are scheduled to take place at FirstBank Stadium on Vanderbilt University's campus, with the dates set for January 5, 2026, and January 4, 2027.
The FCS Championship was previously held in Chattanooga from 1997 to 2009 before moving to Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas, where it has been played since 2010. The upcoming game will be played at 6 p.m. on January 6, 2025, and will be broadcast live on ESPN.
