June 5, 1931 - February 23, 2025

Jewel Duncan, age 93 of Decherd, passed away on February 23, 2025, at her residence with her caregiver Tina McGhee by her side. She was born in Coffee County on June 5, 1931, to the late Lawrence and Connie (Hickerson) Ray and grew up in the Duncantown Community. Before her retirement, she had been employed by Genesco, Hat Corporation of America (where she will always be remembered as the fastest hatmaker in the plant), and Shaw. She enjoyed doing cross-stich and sewing. A devoted member of Winchester Church of Christ, Jewel loved her church and church family, especially enjoying cooking for church meals and helping with bridal and baby showers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over fifty years, W.B. Duncan. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 11am-1pm on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Bro. Joseph Horton and Bro. Daniel Ross officiating. Interment will be at Franklin Memorial Gardens.
