Huntland Lady Hornets fall to Fayetteville City in Overtime in District Tournament, Gameplay Pushed Back For Snow

The Huntland Lady Hornets put up a valiant fight but ultimately fell short in overtime against Fayetteville City, losing 64-54 in a thrilling matchup.


Huntland found themselves playing from behind for most of the night, as Fayetteville City jumped out to a 16-9 lead in the first quarter. By halftime, the Lady Hornets had trimmed the deficit to 30-24, keeping themselves within striking distance.


Fayetteville City extended their lead to 45-38 heading into the fourth, but Huntland refused to back down. In a late-game surge, the Lady Hornets finally claimed their first lead of the night with just two minutes remaining. However, Fayetteville City responded, forcing a 56-56 tie at the end of regulation.


In overtime, Fayetteville City regained control, outscoring Huntland 8-0 in the extra period to secure the 64-54 victory.

Catara Johnson – 4 points The District 9A Tournament had to be postponed due to weather conditions on Wednesday and all tournament action is pushed by 1 day. Huntland Boys will now play on Thursday, and The Lady Hornets will play at 6 PM on Friday in the Consolation Game of the District 9A Tournament.
