On Wednesday night (November 20, 2024), at approximately 8:30, Tony Jameson Sweeton escaped from a transport vehicle while being transported from the Franklin County Sheriff's Office to the Coffee County Sheriff's Department.
Sweeton escaped the car at the intersection of Highway 127 and Wattendorf Highway at the Franklin County/Coffee County line. He was handcuffed at the time of the escape.
UPDATE:
Just before midnight on Thursday, Coffee County Sheriff Chad Partin contacted 931News to report that Sweeton had been located and transported to the Coffee County Jail. He and two others are facing charges due to the escape. Below are other charges Sweeton was already facing.
He was in court in Franklin County to face the charge of statutory rape.
Sweeton was in custody in Coffee County for the following charges:

-Assault on First Responders X3
-Theft of Motor Vehicle
-Theft of Property
-Resisting Arrest
-Domestic Violence
-Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor
-Vandalism X2
-Driving on a Revoked License
-Violation of Probation X2
