HUNTLAND – The Huntland Hornets faced a formidable test on Friday night as they took on the top-ranked Eagleville Eagles. From the opening tip-off, Eagleville displayed their dominance, ultimately securing a 98-27 victory and enforcing the TSSAA mercy rule once their lead exceeded 35 points in the second half.

Eagleville wasted no time asserting control, employing relentless defensive pressure to disrupt Huntland’s offensive flow and force turnovers. Their disciplined and efficient offense capitalized on each opportunity, quickly establishing a substantial lead that left Huntland struggling to respond.

By halftime, the Eagles had built an insurmountable advantage, dictating the pace and excelling in all facets of the game. Their ability to convert defensive stops into fast-break points and execute with precision proved too much for the Hornets to overcome.

Per TSSAA regulations, the game transitioned to a running clock in the second half once Eagleville’s lead surpassed 35 points, limiting Huntland’s chances to mount any form of a comeback and solidifying the Eagles' dominant performance.

Despite the difficult matchup, several Huntland players managed to contribute on the scoreboard:

Chandler Banks – 3 points

Brooklyn Reynolds – 3 points

Micah Tipps – 1 point

Kannon Lafevers – 5 points

Grant Jernigan – 6 points

Ellis Stewart – 4 points

Cason Riley – 4 points

While the final score was not in Huntland’s favor, the Hornets demonstrated perseverance, continuing to fight for scoring opportunities against Eagleville’s tenacious defense. The next broadcast for Huntland Basketball will be on Valentines Day as they will take on their rival Moore County. Tipoff is set for 7:30 PM.
