
On March 11, 2025, the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office attempted to serve an indictment related to an investigation conducted by the department and the District Attorney General’s Office.
This case involved the death of a 3-month-old infant that occurred on 9/22/23. The infant was found to have died from acute fentanyl toxicity.
While attempting to serve the indictment, the mother, Julianna Leasure, fled in a vehicle to avoid arrest. A short pursuit occurred where Leasure crashed around the 109 mm on Interstate 24.
Leasure was taken into custody and charged with Murder, Reckless Homicide, Child Abuse and Child Neglect or Endangerment, Evading Arrest, Assault Against First Responder or Nurse, Reckless Endangerment, Resisting Stop, Frisk, Halt, or Stop, Unlawful Use of Telecommunications Device, and Reckless Driving. Leasure’s bond is $74,000 with a court date set for 3/31/25.
